Aaa Alchemy as in all trade skills there is a great deal of pationts involved.  There are some cool Insterments you get to use, only a few but vary resorsfull.

You get a:

1.   Morter and Pestle
2.   Spell Potion*
3.   Alembic  
4.   Aqua Incanta* / Natural Balms
5.   Eye Dropper

Prity much in that order, over and over and over .. Till your skill is about 180 - 200 at best to use the *Concentrated items.
  Makes life alote easyer pluse a nice incentive to let you know your on your way to being able to meet the skill req. of most quest skills.  260 - 300 at best.... ... .. .
